In Bali, Indonesia, cremation ceremonies are a huge event. All of the village people do a procession and decorate a huge paper mache sarcophagus to carry to where they will be cremating the body. There are musicians playing traditional instruments that sound like a tinny xylophone and all of the villagers come to watch the body burn and then the ashes put into the river. They believe in everything cycling back to the earth…ashes to ashes. We were invited to come watch and it was definitely an experience.
